BDO Conferences, Hamburg 2017

The BDO Conferences Hamburg 2017 ​took place from 22 to 28 October and included the Annual, Global Audit, High Level Tax, Global Risk Management and Corporate Finance Conferences.

Annual Conference

The BDO Annual Conference provided attendees from all over the world with the opportunity to share ideas on business and client issues in a unique networking environment, as well as to discuss future initiatives and contribute to the development of the BDO network and its strategic goals. 

Corporate Finance Conference

The ICFG Conference in Hamburg focused on cross border business development activities and ultimately the generation of revenues as the key element that will ensure the long-term growth of the international CF business within BDO.

The conference provided participants with a platform to focus on international and cross-border business generation with a focus on:

  • Common messaging of our brand and services
  • Sector intelligence
  • International private equity relations
  • Forum for meeting colleagues from practices across the BDO international network.

  • Transaction Services
  • Valuations and Business Restructuring.

Global Audit Conference

The overall objectives of the conference were to:

  • Support maintenance and development of audit quality within our network member firms
  • Bring together Heads of Audit / Heads of Technical and enable the sharing of hot topic issues and initiatives
  • Create awareness and opportunities to leverage innovations in technology, BDO resources and practice management initiatives to boost audit efficiency and quality 
  • Provide continuing input on the ‘future of audit’ agenda/AIOC/Global Assurance Department projects.

Agenda topics:

The conference included a focus on Audit Quality and Audit Efficiency while spotlighting areas of transformation and the fluid integration of technology and methodology.

Global Risk Management Conference

The overall objectives of the conference were to:

  • Share recent developments within the broad area of Risk Management and Quality
  • Discuss actual Risk Management challenges and possible solutions
  • Share best practices on how issues could be dealt with.

In addition to the objectives above, participation in this conference has enabled partners to learn, discuss and meet with other partners who are active in the field of quality and risk management.

High Level Tax Conference

The HLTC gathered senior and experienced tax professionals from the BDO network worldwide to discuss recent developments and technical aspects of various areas of the international tax practice, as well as business development.

The overall objectives of the conference were to:

  • Share technical tax knowledge between senior BDO tax professionals from across the world and to discuss important international tax developments and their impact on BDO’s tax service offering
  • Facilitate and intensify cross-border work and relationships between BDO practices by getting leading and senior tax professionals to meet and to network together.

  • Post BEPS (Base Erosion and Profit Shifting) / The global tax environment:

         - Interest deductibility
         - Permanent establishment and profits to be attributed to it
         - Transfer Pricing
         - Hybrid entities / hybrid instruments / mismatches
